Meet Squishy, the hummingbird. He earned his name because noticed one day he had points on the back of his neck. At first, I was alarmed and thought he might be injured but I soon realized that the points were feathers squished up on the back of his neck. Squishy has many friends, and they too frequent the feeder daily as well. There was one particular day over the summer that the wind was whipping. He comes to stay on my deck each winter. Last year he had no place to rest. This year I found him his own branch from the forest. I am so thrilled he is using it.
