Our animals grace us with their presence for a short period in life. During this time, we receive indescribable gifts of unconditional love. This love is felt deeply because it is authentic and pure. Animals touch a place within our hearts that is unlike any human interaction.
It may be easy to comprehend if you are one of the lucky ones who have had such an experience. As a communicator, I am gifted to share in these relationships regularly.
The story of Lula Mae a.k.a. Little Big Boss begins in New York City. This orange cat was quite satisfied with apartment life. She was always happy to interact with the pigeons on her fire escape. Her person, a classical music artist with a busy work schedule, was filled with love for her Little Big Boss. She earned her nickname because she expressed her opinions loud and clear. It was noted that her comments were filled with wisdom and always accurate to the situation at hand. For example, when her acupuncturist was not focusing on her sensitivity when placing the needles, she made it known to go easy. Her person recognized that she knew what she was talking about on every step of their journey.
After a period, Little Big Boss developed an extremely serious inner ear infection.
Over time, she lost her sight and hearing completely. I might say here that animals do well adjusting to these radical circumstances. They accept what occurs in their lives with grace. In her style, Little Big Boss managed to navigate a new way of being in her world. Her person was dedicated and focused on making it easier for her to adjust.
While she could no longer see the birds on the fire escape, her place on mom’s bed remained constant. She enjoyed daily hugs and consistent care. Her voice remained the number one way to let everyone know how she felt about things, including the birds.
After a long period, Little Big Boss let her mom know that her time had come to transition. The decision to let our beloved animals leave the Earth can be the most difficult moments of our lives. Her person’s choice to let her go was in the best interest of Lula Mae. She was tired and from Lula’s point of view it was the right time to depart.
Sometimes, we can’t understand this timing… but after years of communicating with animals at this juncture, I have seen that once they complete the present chapter in their body, they continue into another chapter of their person’s evolution from another realm. This is practically impossible for the human to conceive, as there is so much healing required to mend from incredible loss. Things do begin to make sense in time, if we pay attention.
During her passing, her person played classical music to assist her soul in leaving her body. “Clair de Lune” by Debussy was the magnificent song of her choice. (“Clair de Lune” translates to “light of the moon.”) Lula was so grateful and used every bit of loving energy from this music to transition with grace and ease.
The story does not end here.
I would like to share what happened several weeks after her passing. I received a call from a frantic couple in New Jersey. Their beloved Little Kit, a small calico cat, was missing for over two weeks. Lost animals can be extremely challenging, because while I can determine the fact that they are still in their body, it can be difficult to tell them exactly which step to take towards home. In this case, Little Kit was in the middle of the wilderness. She claimed she lost her way while exploring.
I have worked with several animals in spirit who have agreed to assist me in guiding lost animals home (as appropriate) for the soul journey of the animal. I handpick specific beings depending on the situation.
I call these beings the “Band of Spirits,” with my boy Sweetie as the Band leader. The origin of the Band will be discussed in later blog post. Little Kit was so disoriented I asked Sweetie and several of these master cat spirits to bring this cat home. Lula Mae, Little Big Boss, was of course one of the main players.
Only nine hours later I received an email from the couple saying that Little Kit came walking out of the forest into her yard. It was in the exact moment of reading this email that “Clair de Lune” was playing loudly on my Pandora station. I had been trying since Lula Mae’s passing to get this song to play but somehow could not until this day. I knew instantly it was Lula Mae telling me that she and the Band had done their work.
And as I compose this post, I learned that Lula Mae herself was once lost early in her life and hence found her way to this magical journey with her person. I thanked all the animals in spirit who brought Little Kit home.
It was yet another one of hundreds of verifying moments that tell us that these beings continue to support us in spirit. They tell me their work continues in the afterlife for the greater good of The All, especially their specific people. This was a happy moment for Little Kit and her family.
Little Big Boss continues to light the way on her mom’s path. Her life was a demonstration of strength, immeasurable courage and tenacity. It was also an example of how love lives on as the central theme of our existence on this Earth plane and thereafter.
